======개요======
회전 좌표계와 같은 비관성계에서 운동의 기술.

======회전 행렬======
$\vec{x}(t)$가 시간 $t$에서 강체 위 어느 점의 위치 벡터라고 하자. 시간에 의존하는 회전 행렬 $R(t)$를 통해 초기조건을 이 $\vec{x}(t)$에 연결지을 수 있다:
$$\vec{x}(t) = R(t) \vec{x}(0).$$
그 시간 변화를 보면
$$\dot{\vec{x}}(t) = \dot{R}(t) \vec{x}(0) = \dot{R}(t) R^\intercal(t) \vec{x}(t)$$
이며, 회전 행렬의 특성상
$$R(t) R^\intercal(t)=E$$
임을 이용했다. $E$는 단위행렬이다. 방금 쓴 식의 양변을 미분해보자:
$$\dot{R}(t) R^\intercal(t) + R(t) \dot{R}^\intercal(t) = 0.$$
따라서
$$\dot{\vec{x}}(t) = \dot{R}(t) R^\intercal(t) \vec{x}(t) = - R(t) \dot{R}^\intercal(t) \vec{x}(t) = -\left[\dot{R}(t) R^\intercal(t) \right]^\intercal \vec{x}(t)$$
이므로 이는 $\Omega(t) \equiv \dot{R}(t) R^\intercal(t)$가 반대칭(antisymmetric) 행렬임을 의미한다. 이 행렬을 성분으로 적어보자:

만일 $\vec{\omega} \equiv (\omega_x, \omega_y, \omega_z)^\intercal$로 정의한다면 $\dot{\vec{x}}(t) = \Omega(t) \vec{x}(t) = \omega(t) \times \vec{x}(t)$임을 확인할 수 있으며, 여기에서 $\vec{\omega}(t)$가 사실 각속도 벡터에 대응된다는 사실도 알 수 있다.

강체에 붙어있는 비관성 좌표계 $B$에서 표현한 벡터 $\vec{v}_B$를 관성계 $N$에서의 표현 $\vec{v}$으로 바꿔주는 회전 행렬 $R$를 생각하자:

=====첫 번째 예=====
각속도 $\vec{\omega} = \omega \hat{k}$로 LP 디스크가 회전하고 있다고 하자.
그 위에서 벌레 한 마리가 음반 홈을 따라 음반이 회전하는 것과 같은 방향으로 움직이고 있는데, 회전축으로부터 거리 $\rho$만큼 떨어져 있으며, 음반에 대하여 일정 속력 $v_b$를 가지고 있다.
디스크를 따라 회전하는 비관성 좌표계에서 생각해보자.
벌레의 위치는

=====비관성 좌표계로의 변환=====

$\vec{v}$의 자리에 각운동량 벡터 $\vec{L}$을 집어넣고, 앞의 식에서 양변에 $R^\intercal$를 곱하여 비관성 좌표계에서의 기술로 바꾸자.

여기에서 행렬의 좌표 변환 $\Omega_B = R^\intercal \Omega R$을 사용했다. $\Omega_B$ 역시 반대칭 행렬임은 쉽게 보일 수 있다: $\Omega_B^\intercal = (R^\intercal \Omega R)^\intercal = R^\intercal \Omega^\intercal R = - R^\intercal \Omega R = -\Omega_B$. 따라서 적절한 벡터 $\vec{\omega}_B$를 도입하여 $\Omega_B \vec{L}_B = \vec{\omega}_B \times \vec{L}_B$로 고쳐 적었다. $\Omega = R \Omega_B R^\intercal$이므로 $\vec{\omega} = R \vec{\omega}_B$이어야 한다. 이는 오일러 각을 사용해 임의의 3차원 회전 행렬 $R$을 적은 다음 $R \Omega_B R^\intercal$의 성분과 $R \vec{\omega}_B$의 성분을 비교함으로써 바로 보일 수 있다. $\vec{\omega}_B = R^\intercal \vec{\omega}$가 __영벡터가 아님__에 유의하라. 강체와 함께 회전하고 있으면 강체가 정지한 듯이 보일 테니까 언제나 $\vec{\omega}_B=0$일 것이라고 생각하기 쉬운데, $\vec{\omega}_B$의 의미는 그것이 아니라 $\vec{\omega}$를 $R^\intercal$로 좌표 변환한 것에 불과하다.

비관성 좌표계 $B$가 물체의 주축 방향으로 정렬되어 있다면

그림처럼 길이 $a$인 가벼운 막대기 2개에 의해 질량 $m$인 물체가 연결된 형태의 아령을 생각하자. 이 아령이 $z$축 방향으로 고정된 축을 중심으로 회전하고 있어서, 각속도 벡터는 $\vec{\omega} = \omega \hat{k}$로 주어진다. 아령은 축으로부터 각도 $\theta$만큼 기울어진 상태이며, $t=0$인 현재 $yz$ 평면 안에 위치한다.

이 순간의 관성 모멘트 텐서를 구해보면 $m_1=m_2=m$이고 $\vec{r}_1(t=0) = (x_{11}, x_{12}, x_{13}) = (0, a \sin\theta, -a\cos\theta)$, 그리고 $\vec{r}_2(t=0) = (x_{21}, x_{22}, x_{23}) = (0, -a\sin\theta, a\cos\theta)$이므로 아래와 같다:

이며, $\theta=0$이나 $\pi/2$에서는 영벡터가 되는데 이는 직관과 잘 부합한다.

여기에서 $\vec{\omega}$가 일정하게 유지되고 있으므로 $d\vec{\omega}_B / dt = R^\intercal d\vec{\omega} /dt = 0$이다. $I_B = I(t=0)$가 대각행렬은 아니지만 시간변화가 없다는 성질은 유지되므로 $d\vec{L}_B/dt = I_B (d\vec{\omega}_B/dt) = 0$이다. 따라서 저 위에서 일반적인 벡터 $\vec{v}$에 대해 적었던 식을 다음처럼 고쳐 쓸 수 있다:

이는 $\vec{\tau} = \vec{\omega} \times \vec{L}$임을 의미하고 실제로 우리가 방금 구했던 결과와 일치한다.
=====테니스 라켓 정리=====
중간축 정리(intermediate-axis thorem) 또는 자니베코프 효과(Dzhanibekov effect)라고도 불린다. 돌림힘이 작용하지 않는 경우 오일러 운동방정식에서 $\vec{\tau}=0$이어서 좌변이 0이 되고 $\vec{\omega}_B$에 대한 운동방정식을 다음처럼 얻는다:

$I_{B1} = 2$, $I_{B2} = 3$, 그리고 $I_{B3}=5$로 하여 이 방정식을 RK4로 수치적분한 결과가 아래 그림과 같다. 시간 계단의 크기를 적응형(adaptive step size)으로 구현했으며, 수직 점선들이 매 순간 시간 계단의 크기를 나타내고 있다. 시간 $t=0$의 시점에 관성계에서 각속도 벡터는 $\vec{\omega}(t=0) = \hat{y}$이며, 물체가 약간 기울어 있어서 $B$ 좌표계에서 보았을 때에는 $\vec{\omega}_B (t=0) \approx (0.01, 0.99995, 0)^\intercal$로 시작한다고 가정했다. 아래 그림에서 $\omega_{B2}$가 부호를 바꾸는 것은, 관성계에서 보면 물체의 방향이 뒤집혀도 (예를 들어 T 드라이버가 ㅗ에서 ㅜ로 뒤집혀도) 반시계방향으로 돌던 물체는 여전히 반시계방향으로, 시계방향으로 돌던 물체는 여전히 시계방향으로 돈다는 뜻이다.

회전행렬 $R(t)$가 존재해서 $\vec{\omega}(t) = R(t) \vec{\omega}_B(t)$이며, 각운동량 $\vec{L} = I(t) \vec{\omega}(t) = R(t) I_B \vec{\omega}_B(t)$가 보존량이다.
따라서 위에서 계산된 $\vec{\omega}_B(t)$를 통해 $\vec{L}_B = I_B \vec{\omega}_B(t)$를 구한 다음, $\vec{L}_B$를 $t=0$에서의 $\vec{L}$로 회전시키는 행렬 $R(t)$를 구한다. 이를 통해 관성계에서 본 각속도 벡터 $\vec{\omega}(t) = R(t) \vec{\omega}_B(t)$를 구하면 아래 그림처럼 얻어진다. $\omega_{I1}$이 보여주듯이 일정한 방향으로 주기적으로 뒤집힌다.

======코리올리 효과======

원점 $O$에서 정의된 $xyz$ 좌표계와 원점 $O'$에서 정의된 $x'y'z'$ 좌표계를 고려하자.
$x'y'z'$ 좌표계는 $xyz$ 좌표계를 병진 이동하고 회전시켜서 얻어진다.
이때 $O$로부터 $O'$로 향하는 벡터를 $xyz$ 좌표계에서 표현한 것을 $\vec{X}_0$라고 하자.
또한 원점을 이동한 후 $x'y'z'$에서의 표현을 $xyz$의 표현으로 변환해주는 회전 행렬을 $R$라고 하자.

시간 $t$에서 어떤 점 $P$의 위치를 $xyz$ 좌표계에서 표현한 것을 $\vec{X}$, 마찬가지의 양을 $x'y'z'$ 좌표계에서 표현한 것을 $\vec{X}'$라고 하자.

$O'$에서 $P$로 향하는 벡터를 $xyz$ 좌표계에서 표현한 것을 $\vec{\xi}$, 그리고 $x'y'z'$ 좌표계에서 표현한 것을 $\vec{\xi}'$라고 하면 다음과 같다:
$$\vec{X} = \vec{X}_0 + \vec{\xi} = \vec{X}_0 + R \vec{\xi}'.$$
이것을 시간에 대해 미분하면 다음의 식을 얻는다.

마지막 항을 $\vec{V}$라고 부르자. 이것은 $x'y'z'$ 좌표계의 원점 $O'$에 대한 속도를 $xyz$ 좌표계로 변환하여 표현한 것이다.
$\dot{\vec{X}}_0=0$인 상황에서 $xyz$를 관성 좌표계로, $x'y'z'$ 를 회전 좌표계로 놓고

로 쓸 때가 많은데, 우리 표기법에서는 $\vec{V}$가 $\left[ \frac{d\vec{r}}{dt} \right]_\text{rot}$에 해당한다.

한번 더 미분하자:

위에서 $\Omega = \dot{R} R^\intercal$로 정의했으므로 $\dot{R} = \Omega R$이고 이 양변을 미분하면

그 다음 양변에 $R^\intercal$를 곱하면 다음과 같다:

결국 다음처럼 쓸 수 있다:
